Brian McMahan was appointed to the SCC Board of Trustees in 2006.

Born in Sylva, McMahan received a bachelor of science degree in political science from Western Carolina University with a focus on state and local government and a minor in history.

McMahan is chairman of the Jackson County Board of Commissioners and is employed as assistant chief of security at Balsam Mountain Preserve. He is second vice president of the NC Association of County Commissioners and serves on the NCACC Board of Directors. He has also served on the NCACC’s Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee.

McMahan lives in Balsam, NC with his wife, Luisa.
