Conrad Burrell has served on the SCC Board of Trustees since 1996. He is currently serving his ninth term as chairman of the Board.

Burrell was employed by the NC Department of Transportation prior to being elected register of deeds for Jackson County in 1974. He served 24 years in that position until his retirement in 1998. Burrell is also a former Jackson County commissioner. He is currently serving on the NC Department of Transportation Board, representing the 14th division.

In 2008 Burrell was honored with the Thad Eure Distinguished Service Award for his loyalty and support of the North Carolina Democratic Party.

A native of Jackson County, Burrell lives in Sylva with his wife, Juanita.
