Career
Assessment
The process of choosing a
major or career often begins
with assessment. Consider
taking one of the assessments
available to learn more about
your interests, personality,
skills/ abilities, and values.
After taking one or more assessment(s),
meet with the career counselor
to discuss your results and
generate ideas for majors
and careers to research.
Your career counselor will
help you define your concerns,
sort out your feelings,
and find your own answers.
Self-assessment tests may
be administered and interpreted
during counseling. Each
student's situation is unique
and will determine the tests
he/she takes, the length
of time, and the time needed
to interpret results. Tests
offer an opportunity for
a new perspective on your
career options, but they
cannot make better decisions
for you than you can.
Keep in mind that no single
test can tell you "what
you should be" and
that successful career planning
may require more than one
appointment.
