GENERAL EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT(GED)TESTING INFORMATION
SCC is an official GED testing Center. The GED covers five broad areas:
writing, reading, math, social studies and science. An individual wishing to take the GED examination should come to SCC for an initial interview and exam preparation. At the time of application, a testing schedule will be given to the applicant. Testing sites are located in Bryson City, Cherokee, Franklin and Sylva. SCC offers a wide variety of GED preparation classes at no charge. Test cost is $7.50.
Literacy & GED Preparation
Adult Basic Skills, GED Preparation: Classes are offered on all levels from beginning reading to GED preparation. Classes are interactive and use adult learning techniques. Individualized instruction, open entry, multiple class locations and times make these classes customer friendly and facilitate student success. If you or someone you know needs to complete his or her education, call the SCC Center nearest you. All literacy classes are free. You can start classes at any time and do not need to wait for the beginning of the new semester.
