ABCs of the Computer: 36 hrs., 3.6 CEUs
Designed and recommended for the new computer user. Learn the computer basics including: proper shut down of the computer, mouse use and maintenance, use of the keyboard, identification and use of icons, windows, menus, how to name, save, retrieve and revise a document; control panel tools; hardware and software vocabulary, basics of file management, how to use some of the system tools, how to install and remove hardware and software.

Computer Applications

Basic Digital Photography: 24 hrs.; 2.4 CEUs
This course teaches the basics of using the digital camera, getting the pictures to the computer and editing/printing the results. You will learn digital photo techniques, how to transfer your pictures, how to edit, adjust color, contrast and brightness and the various ways to print your pictures. It will also cover how to get the photos to the Internet and store them on a CD. Bring your camera to class or get assistance in how to buy one. Basic computer skills are necessary.

Computer Business Applications: 36 hrs, 3.6 CEUs
This course will provide the student with an overview of many of the software packages found in today’s workplace. By the end of this course, you will have a sound understanding of the basic features and business applications for the word processor, spreadsheet and presentation software in Microsoft Office. This course will also teach you the basics in how to use computers to communicate. Students should possess fundamental computing skills.

This course is designed for the computer literate to intermediate level user. As a result of taking this course, participants will be able to create, sort, filter, edit, and print spreadsheet files using Excel. They will learn how to write formulas, format cells and cut, copy, and paste cells and ranges of cells.

This course will provide a variety of word processing skills using Word. Students will learn how to format, insert a variety of objects, use tables, headers, footers, mail merges, and run spell and grammar check along with word count. Basic computer skills are required.

MS /Word/ Excel: 36 hrs., 3.6 CEUs
Prerequisite: basic computer skills. This class will have 18 hours on Microsoft Word and 18 hours on Microsoft Excel. It will cover the basics of both of these software programs. Students will learn the basic screens, how to move around in the software and the standard and formatting toolbars. Word will include inserting pictures, word-art, and special symbols along with using the Word tools. Students will also learn the basics of tables and spreadsheet design.
