Orientation for New Students
New Student Orientation
Summer 2012 and Fall 2012
Thank you for your interest in attending New Student Orientation at Southwestern Community College. Students beginning classes in Summer 2012 will need to complete the online orientation at: www.southwesterncc.edu/online-orientation/index.htm
Students starting classes in the Fall 2012 will need register for one of the following orientations:

****If you complete online orientation you will need to make an appointment to register for your Summer 2012 or Fall 2012 classes. *****
What will I learn and do at orientation?
- Go to sessions that will cover topics pertinent to student needs and resources
- Tour campus
- Meet with Academic Advising staff to register for classes
- Learn how to access your MySCC account
- Overview of Southwestern Community College
Where do I go, what do I need to bring or what if I have a question?
Registration will begin approximately 30 minutes before the orientation session and will be held in the Balsam Center 1st Floor Lobby. The Balsam Center is the first building you see when arriving on our Jackson campus. You may park anywhere in the front parking area.
All necessary materials needed for the information and advising session will be provided to you. You are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes, as an extensive walking tour of the campus is a part of the event. If you or someone in your party requires special services for your Orientation visit, please let us know by calling 828.339.4217. If you have not presently registered for fall classes, you will have the opportunity to register with an academic advisor following the information sessions. You may want to review the class schedule for the upcoming semester, which you can find by clicking HERE, prior to meeting with your advisor. You may register for New Student Orientation by filling out and submitting the information below. We look forward to seeing you at New Student Orientation!
