Blackboard Training student training
 
Students have two options for Blackboard training: choose online or hands-on training.
 
Online Training (anytime/anywhere)
 
  1. Go to the Blackboard serversing
  2. Username: visitor
  3. Password: scc
 
Hands-On Training (Attend one campus session)

Access Denied Problem

If you are receiving an Access Denied message when trying to login to Blackboard, you need to empty your cache (stored information on your computer).

Do the following:

SCC students are required to use their SCC Google mail accounts. You can forward your SCC email messages to a personal email account, but you are required to use and check your SCC Google mail accounts.

Known Problems with Firefox 3.5
"Please enter a valid file" message when uploading a valid file (video - Dial-up users)
"Please enter a valid file" message when uploading a valid file (video - High-speed users)

"Please enter a valid file" message when uploading a valid file (text).

Known Issues with Internet Explorer and Blackboard Online Tests
If you are using Internet Explorer and you are having difficulty taking tests in Blackboard, do the following:
  • We highly suggest that you use Firefox 3.0 as a browser. Download and install Mozilla Firefox. Access your Blackboard course (and test) using this browser. Firefox 3.5 is not compatible yet (07/22/09)
  • If you would rather use Internet Explorer, try the following:
    • Add Blackboard Server to Compatibility Settings:
      1. Open Internet Explorer
      2. click Page on menu
      3. drop down to "Compatibility View Settings"
      4. add the Blackboard server address https://my.southwesterncc.edu
    • Check Java:
      1. Go to Java.com
      2. Click on "Do I Have Java?"
      3. If your Java is not up to date you will be directed to update your Java and download the latest version.
    • Clear your browser's cache:
      1. Go to Tools on menu
      2. Drop down to Internet Options
      3. Under "Browsing history" select "Delete browsing history on exit and click "Apply"
    • Disable the Visual Textbox Editor:
      1. Access Blackboard
      2. On left, click "Personal Information"
      3. Click "Set Visual Text Box Editor Options"
      4. Select "Unavailable" and click "Submit
