On-line Learning - Checklist

Students who are online learners have many resources available to them to help make their online learning experience successful at SCC. The following steps will get you started. It is necessary for you to activate your SCC e-mail account and contact your instructor(s) since this is the standard for communication at SCC.

Please note - you will not be added to your online course(s) until the first day of class. If you cannot login to your course, wait and try to login again later.

Step 1

Activate your SCC e-mail account.

If you are having difficulty with your SCC e-mail account, contact support@southwesterncc.edu. For additional information, go to the Student E-mail FAQ.

   
Step 2 Send an e-mail to your instructor(s).
 
Step 3 Make sure you are using a compatible browser to access your course. Check your browser.
   
Step 4 Login to your course(s) in Blackboard. If you have difficulty logging in to your course(s), please fill out this form.
   
Step 5

Learn the functions of Blackboard's tools by clicking on below links or by taking the online Orientation to Blackboard (login ID: student, Password: guest).

Editing your Student Homepage
E-mail
Discussions
Submitting an Assignment
Viewing your Grades

   
Step 6 Familiarize yourself with SCC's Library Resources.
   
Step 7

If you would like hands-on Blackboard training, training sessions will be offered in the Learning Assistance Center.

If you are unable to attend a session, we have an online Orientation to Blackboard (login ID: student, Password: guest).
