Manage
Under Manage you will be able to upload and/or download data, create Categories, create Smart Views, create Grading Periods, display Grading Schemas, show or hide users, and organize the Grade Center.
Your options are:

 Upload
You can import grades from an external source. Include the "User Name" identify in your upload. If your external file has an added column, you will need to convert it to a column type of your choice once it is uploaded. Blackboard recommends using tab-delimited files for uploading.

Download
Blackboard recommends downloading tab-delimited files as it will open directly in Excel.

Save your file.
Categories
A Category is a classification of a column such as "test" or "journal articles."

Smart Views
Smart Views are views of the Grade Center based on a variety of student criteria such as Assessments or Discussions. There are four types of Smart Views: Group (based on Groups set up in User Management); Benchmark (based on performance such as a mid-term exam); Focus (selection of individual students); and Invesitigate (combination of Group, Benchmark, and Focus views).

Grading Periods
Grading Periods are segments, such as Terms, Quarters, or Semesters, that help organize your Grade Center. Grading Periods are optional.

Grading Schemas
A Grading Schema is a diagram based on percentage ranges that matches scores to specific grade displays.

Example One: if a student scores an 88 on a test, and a Grade Schema that sets 87.5 to 89.5 = B+, then the grade display Letter option will indicate a B+ for the student.

Example Two: if a column is configured to display Pass for all percentages above 70%, then, when the instructor enters 89%, the Grade Center will display Pass. You can create unlimited schemas.

Organizing Grade Center
Organize Grade Center lets you configure the Grade Center display. You can freeze or unfreeze columns (column remains stationary when scrolling); hide or show columns; modify Categories; and modify Grading Periods. Organize Grade Center has limited drag-and-drop capabilities.

Show/Hide Users
Users can be hidden from the Grade Center. They are not removed, but can be revealed at any time.
