This curriculum is designed to prepare individuals to be successful outdoor professionals in Wilderness Emergency Medicine.
Course work includes technical training in the areas such as wilderness patient assessment, improvised litters and splints, environmental emergencies and evacuation protocols.
These skills are taught through facilitation and experiential learning methodologies.
Graduates from this program will have a sound background in emergency management blended with a solid foundation of outdoor skills.
Graduates are prepared for employment in agencies that require a higher level of training in medical and backcountry skills to handle difficult environments, and prolonged treatment of the patient with limited resources.
