| Duties
include, but are not
limited to, the following: |
| Essential
Functions: |
| |
Repair heating, air
conditioning, and ventilation
systems for the college,
including electronic
and mechanical components. |
| |
Monitor and inspect
heating and cooling
systems to ensure continued
proper operation. |
| |
Perform preventive
maintenance on HVAC
systems.
Inspect and change air
filters on a regular
basis. |
| Additional
Functions: |
| |
Replace or repair
light fixtures, alarm
switches, receptacles,
transformers, electrical
appliances, motors,
circuits, and panels
as needed. |
| |
Assist maintenance
staff with work orders
as needed. |
| |
Assist with plumbing,
painting, grounds, housekeeping
or masonry projects
as needed. |
| |
Prepare materials
lists for parts and
supplies and pick up
materials from area
vendors as needed. |
| |
Assist with setup
and breakdown for special
events and functions
on campus. |

| Contract
and Salary |
Full-time,
twelve-month contracts, non-exempt
staff position. Salary commensurate
with education and experience
- (salary range will be in
mid 30’s) |
| Qualifications |

High school diploma
or equivalent |

At least five years
of directly related
work experience in HVAC
service and maintenance |

EPA Refrigerant Recovery
License |

Troubleshoot controls

Southwestern
Community College is a public,
two year college within
the North Carolina System
of Community Colleges.
The campus is located near
Sylva, North Carolina, the
commercial center of Jackson
County. The college
serves a three county service
area with a total population
of 76,000.
The area's economy is based
on small industry, recreation,
and tourism. The geographic
location is in rural southwestern
North Carolina near the eastern
entrance to the Great Smoky
Mountains National Park.
The urban areas of Atlanta,
Asheville, and Knoxville are
within a 150 mile radius of
