Southwestern
Community College is a public,
two-year college within the
North Carolina System of Community
Colleges. The campus is located
near Sylva, North Carolina,
which is the commercial center
of Jackson County. The college
serves a three-county area
with a total population of
76,000.
The area's economy is based
on small industry, recreation,
and tourism. The geographic
location is in rural southwestern
North Carolina near the eastern
entrance to the Great Smoky
Mountains National Park. The
urban areas of Atlanta, Knoxville,
and Asheville are within a
150 mile radius of the College.
