| Sherry
Fox , Learning Consultant |

|
Sherry received
a B.S. in Nutrition &
Dietetics in 1987 from Western
Carolina University. She has
taught a variety of students
ranging in age from preschool
through adulthood. She began
teaching developmentally challenged
adults at Webster Enterprises
but soon was transferred to
tutor math at the Job Corps
Center in Cherokee, NC. She
soon became a valuable asset
to the Corps and was promoted
to a math teaching position.
When this center closed, she
was welcomed at another Job
Corps location. Currently,
she is closer to home at the
Jackson Campus where she teaches
developmental reading, developmental
English, and study skills/college
success courses. She is enthusiastic
about teaching and supporting
students who are willing to
persevere in order to accomplish
their goals.
Sherry thinks that we all
can learn something every
day, no matter our age, and
believes we all are capable
of learning. As a Learning
Consultant, she can assist
with writing papers, grammar,
reading, and basic math. She
enjoys organic gardening,
camping, creating fiber arts,
reading, and spending time
with her family. |
|
| Jason
Hatch, Learning Consultant
- Macon Campus |

|
Jason had a late start in
college education but has
now earned an associate’s
degree and is currently finishing
a BA in Middle Grades Mathematics.
He mainly enjoys tutoring
everyday math courses but
also does algebra and chemistry
and will continue to add to
this list as time goes on.
His career path seems to be
leading toward working with
middle graders, hoping to
bring some fun and enthusiasm
for essential math skills
and for learning itself. Living
in Otto, he tutors mostly
at the Macon Center LAC. He
finds it satisfying to share
knowledge, along with helping
and seeing people succeed.
Jason’s previous
employment includes a bicycle
paper route, six years of
service in the U.S Navy
working on electronics and
weapons, various factory
jobs in Ohio, and many years
in and around the carpentry
trades, building and remodeling
homes.
His enjoyments and pursuits
(mostly outdoors) have been
too many to mention, including
achieving Eagle Scout. After
a decade of traveling the
highways, sailing some seas
and exploring the woods,
he is looking forward to
slowing down a bit, having
a family (hopefully), teaching
(more than likely), and
enjoying the rest of the
journey (mandatory)! |

| Eric
Hendrix, English |

|
·
|
Eric Hendrix is a
Visiting Lecturer at
Western Carolina University
during the day; during
the night (Thursdays,
usually), he assists
in the LAC. Eric holds
a Two-Year Certificate
from SCC in Radio &
TV Technology. He received
his undergraduate degree
in English Literature
from Western Carolina
University and his Master's
in English from Western
as well. |
| · |
Eric assists with topics
ranging from basic math
through philosophy, history,
and, of course, English
and literature. If English
is your second language,
his Spanish is adequate,
as is his German, but
Eric's greatest strength
with ESL students is helping
them to organize thoughts
and construct sentences
in English from their
native tongue. |
| · |
When not teaching or
tutoring, Eric spends
his time absorbed in writing
(lyrics, short stories,
reflections and musings,
and whatever else pops
into his head), reading;
and, weather permitting,
working outside. |

I have an MBA degree
from Poland. In May 2007
I graduated from SCC with

Administration and Electronic
Commerce. I also have some

business, mathematics and
computers. I want to help
SCC students develop their
full potential and achieve
their educational goals.
Within the last ten years
I lived and studied in Poland,

met many fascinating people.
Three years ago I started
to work and study here at
SCC and I enjoyed it very
much. I’m glad to
work for the fourth best
community college in the
USA! |
