SCC to break ground August
10 for new Macon Campus - “An
exciting milestone in the life of Southwestern
Community College” takes place
Wednesday, August 10, according to Connie
Haire, vice president of the SCC Macon
Campus, when ground is broken for the
new facility. The groundbreaking ceremony
will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the building
site located at the end of Siler Road

Macon
Campus bid accepted - Southwestern
Community College moved one step closer
to realization of an SCC Macon Campus
July 14 when the college’s board
of trustees awarded a $5.8 million contract
for construction of the proposed facility.
Low bidder Perry Bartsch Jr. Construction
Company of Asheville received the contract
on the 27,568 square-foot building and
will begin construction within 30 to
45 days. The anticipated completion
is August 2006, according to project
manager George Stanley. (.

Services Coordinator - Macon Campus

Ms. Pollock has a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Psychology from Meredith College,
one year of graduate studies in clinical
psychology from East Carolina University
Ms. Pollock will be graduated in August
2005 from Western Carolina University
with a Masters of Arts in Education
with a concentration in Educational
Administration - Two Year College. Ms.
Pollock is was previously employed as
a graduate assistant. Ms. Pollock was
employed at WCU as Assistant Director
of Admissions and Transfer Counselor
and she was also an Admissions Counselor
for three years at Meredith College.

Haire appointed as Vice President in
charge of the proposed SCC Macon County
Campus - SCC announced today
that Dr. Connie Haire, Vice President,
Student and Institutional Development,
has been assigned to head the new SCC
Macon Center in Franklin scheduled for
opening the summer of 2006. (

in 1974 of a small office in the courtroom,
director Norman Gilbert and one secretary,
Southwestern Community College’s
presence in Macon County has grown to
soon include a technologically-advanced
$4.9 million facility on a 31-acre campus.
