Forty thousand
student records and nearly 100,000 pages of data were recently converted
to a handful of CDs for Southwestern Community College's Admissions
Department.
In order to meet an immediate need for additional space and to maintain
access to student records, Southwestern contracted with Advanced Technology
Services (ATS), an Atlanta-based firm that provides services such as
OpticDoc, a document imaging system.
"The combination of their OptiScan service bureau and the powerful,
yet easy-to-use OptiDoc imaging software provided an ideal solution
for us," said David McClure, SCC Registrar. "With the construction
crews literally lined up to begin our expansion and renovation project,
we needed to move quickly."
In just a few weeks time, ATS scanned, indexed and stored all 40,000-student
records, and the on-site OptiDoc system will allow the SCC Admissions
department to scan, index and store student records on a forward basis.
"This is our first step toward a paperless admissions office,"
said Myrna Campbell, SCC Director of Enrollment Management, "and
I feel we are very fortunate to have someone as experienced as David
McClure to guide us through this process." |
