SYLVA -The Southwestern Community College Foundation recently honored the memory of past Board member Ann Ball by funding a $500 New Century Scholarship in her name. Her husband, J.C. Ball, left, along with Becky Medford, right, Executive Director of SCC's Foundation, presented Ann Rickman of New Century Scholars in Swain County the $500 scholarship last week. New Century Scholars is a program that allows students to attend two years at Southwestern Community College without the expense of tuition. Western Carolina University recently added an additional two years to the scholarship for any student who wishes to continue on to a baccalaureate program.
