Record field turns out for SCC Foundation's Fall Foursome

SYLVA - A record number of 25 teams played last week in the 13th-annual Fall Foursome golf tournament, which benefits the Southwestern Community College Foundation.

The event, which was held on Monday, Sept. 17, at Highlands Cove in Highlands, raised in excess of $8,000 for SCC Foundation scholarships.

Teams played in two flights. Winning the first flight was the team made up of: Gary Bott, Miles Gottloeb, Jon Hall and Carlos Mojica. Second-place winners were:Troy Burns, Russell Childers, Joe Shuler and Benji Shuler.


Flight two winners were: Ken Stonebraker, Benny McPeak, Mike Lequire and Jim Mincey. Second-place winners were Victor Cordone, Randy Davis, Jim Wood and Earl Searcy.

In other competitions, Harvey Gibbs hit the longest drive, and Jon Hall, Russell Hoyle, Benji Shuler and John Houser won closest to the pin prizes.

Each year, the tournament raises money to support the Foundation's mission, which is to provide scholarships for students using money that would be otherwise unavailable.
