SYLVA
- This fall, Southwestern Community College will offer training with
Drake Tax Solution software thanks to a recent software donation, which
is valued at approximately $2,000, from Drake Enterprises. Founded
in 1977 and headquartered in Franklin, Drake Software is one of largest
and most profitable privately held tax software companies in the United
States. Hank
Shuler, SCC's Macon Center Director said, "Drake Software has been
most gracious in providing their software to us at no cost. For that,
we are very grateful. In addition, we're very excited about being able
to support a local business by training students in the use of their
product." Mike
Wooten, Drake Software's Director of Marketing, said there were a myriad
of reasons Drake donates software to colleges and universities. "It
assists young people working toward becoming accountants, maybe future
employee prospects," said Wooten. "They also may be future
customers in that if they are familiar with Drake Software, then they
may purchase it if they start a tax office. Additionally, it allows
us to help a local institution of higher learning." Drake
Software helped pioneer electronic filing in 1986. This year alone,
the Franklin-based company filed more than 3 million accepted Federal
returns. Wooten
said that Drake is one of the top ten companies nationally in its industry
of tax software and electronic filing. |
