SYLVA
- Six
new members joined the Southwestern Community College Foundation's board
of directors during its annual meeting on Monday, April 9, on the College's
Jackson Campus. New
members of the board who participated in orientation and were officially
seated at this meeting included: Mary Moody-Bumgarner of Jackson County,
Carol Saunooke of Cherokee, Jim Zoller of Jackson County, Hart Goodson
of Jackson County, Wanda Lawless of Cherokee, and Buck Trott of Macon
County. Also
at the meeting, the board approved the budget for the year, which included
more than 25 scholarships for students, a program for student ambassadors
and several fund raising events throughout the year. Members heard a
presentation by Patty Wilson and DiAnne Crisp about the upcoming "Ducks
on the Tuck" duck race on April 28, which will benefit the New
Century Scholars program. The
SCC Foundation supplements Southwestern's operating budget and provides
educational opportunities for students through scholarship funding that
would be otherwise unavailable. |
