Announces 'Tim's Auto Parts/NAPA Scholarship'
Darren
Chastain of Franklin was recently named the first 'Tim's Auto
Parts/NAPA Scholarship' recipient. Becky Medford, executive director

program coordinator were on-hand to congratulate Chastain. - To
the nearly 25 named scholarship funds in the SCC Foundation, you
can add a new one: "Tim's Auto Parts/NAPA Scholarship."

Darren
Chastain of Franklin was recently named the first 'Tim's Auto

That
fund, started by Tim and Marcia Jones, along with the Charlotte
NAPA Distribution Center, will be awarded annually to two local
high school seniors. Recipients must attend a high school that
has an automotive program and have applied to the automotive technology
program at Southwestern Community College.
"Our
desire is to get people interested in the automotive field,"
said Tim Jones, owner of NAPA stores in Sylva, Franklin, Cherokee
and Cashiers. "It's such a great profession--you get to work
with technology and with people. What could be better?"
Darren
Chastain, of Franklin, was named recipient of the first scholarship
last week.
"It's
always been a dream of mine to work around cars," said Chastain.
"And, this scholarship is helping to make my dream possible.
I'm just very grateful to the Jones'."
