SCC
New Student Orientation Slated for Aug. 13
SYLVA
- Learning about college life may have never been so lucrative.
This
year, Southwestern Community College will host their new student
orientation beginning at 8 a.m. on Aug. 13 in Myers Auditorium.
"ThinkFast," a trivia-based game show designed for the
college market, will be the highlight of this year's orientation
program.
During
ThinkFast, students will have the opportunity to apply the information
presented during the orientation sessions in a 60-minute trivia
game with a $300, winner-takes-all, cash prize.
"Thinkfast
is completely interactive, allowing the students to test their
retention and listening skills as they are quizzed on the information
they just received during orientation," said Margie Askins,
SCC's Student Government Association advisor. "It encourages
students to retain all of the vital information they are given
during orientation. In return, they not only have fun and make
new friends, they also get a chance at a cash prize."
All
students enrolling at SCC for the first time this semester are
expected to attend orientation.
Following
morning information sessions, SCC's Student Government Association
will provide a free lunch for all attendees, and academic advisors
will be available after lunch to assist with the registration
process.
Fall
classes begin on Aug. 15. To apply on-line, visit www.southwesterncc.edu
on the Internet, or for more information contact the Admissions
Office at (800) 447-4091 or 586-4091, Ext. 352.
