Seventeen inducted into SCC's PTK Honor Society

SYLVA - Southwestern Community College's chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society inducted 17 new members at a ceremony held in Myers Auditorium on the College's Jackson Campus.

Phi Theta Kappa is the honorary fraternity for American Community and Junior Colleges. The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize and to encourage scholarship, leadership and service among two-year college students. Membership in Alpha Eta Nu Chapter at SCC is extended by invitation. To be considered for membership, you must be enrolled as a full-time student, have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher for two consecutive semesters, have established academic excellence as judged by the faculty and be of good moral character and possess recognized qualities of citizenship. Through Phi Theta Kappa, students have the opportunity to develop their leadership and service skills and to surround themselves in an intellectual climate. The national PTK organization provides numerous scholarship opportunities for its members.
