Lusky and Luker named recipients
of SCC's Academic Excellence Awards
SYLVA
- SCC officials recently selected Jason Lusky and Boyce Luker
both of Cullowhee as the North Carolina Community College System
(NCCCS) Academic Excellence Awards recipients for the 2002-03
school year.
Each
year, Academic Excellence Awards are given to two students from
each of the 59 colleges within the NCCCS. Of the more than 700,000
students in the NC system, only 118 receive the honor each year.
Recipients are chosen based on grade point average and a written
essay detailing their community college experience.
Luker
is enrolled in the Business Administration program concentrating
in e-Commerce and received a 4.0 GPA last semester. Lusky is enrolled
in Electronics Engineering Technology and received a 3.893 last
fall.
All
recipients are invited to attend the Academic Excellence Awards
Luncheon held on Apr. 24 in Raleigh. In addition to the award
recipients, members of the General Assembly and college officials
will attend the luncheon.
Southwestern
Community College is a member of the NCCCS, one of the three largest
community college systems in the country. NCCCS is the primary
source for job training, literacy and adult education in NC.
