January 14
An Intermediate Spanish course will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Jan. 14 and running through Mar. 4. The class will focus on the use of a variety of verb forms-imperfect, command, present perfect, conditional, etc. Conversations and oral speeches using these verb forms will be performed each week. January 15
A Beginning Spanish course will meet from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays Jan. 15 -Mar. 5. In this course students will be introduced to the basics of Spanish, focusing on everyday occurrences common to the tourist or for communication with Spanish speakers in America. Greetings and basic conversation will be covered. The course has the flexibility to respond to individual student needs. Cost of the course is $65. January 21
A course in Computerized Accounting Quick Books Pro 2000 will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 21 and run from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesdays an Thursdays through Feb. 27. The course is designed for people with basic computer literacy skills and some knowledge of accounting who wish to gain skills in this very popular accounting software program. Students will cover setting up the company, the chart of accounts, sales and receivables, payments and payables, employees and payroll, automated check payments and reports. A Microsoft Word course designed for the intermediate level computer user will be offered at the SCC Cashiers Center from 10 a.m. - 1p.m., beginning Jan. 21 and running through Feb. 27. This course will provide a variety of word processing skills using Word 2000. Students will learn how to format and insert a variety of objects, use tables, headers, footers, mail merges and run a spell and grammar check along with a word count. Cost of the course is $60. An adult sign language for beginners course will be offered from 7:30 - 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 21 - Mar. 11 at the SCC Cashiers Center. This class will place emphasis on everyday conversation and vocabulary that will allow a novice to communicate with a deaf friend or family member. Those who have some experience will also be able to progress at their own pace. This class will remain relaxed with hands on learning tools such as games, puzzles and videotapes. Registration is $65. An advanced beginners adult sign language course will be offered from 5:30 -7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 21 - Mar. 11. Emphasis will be placed on a higher-level conversation. ASL structure will be emphasized along with directional visual locale. Each class will have up to one hour, with no voicing in order to focus on expressive and receptive skills. Each student will practice interpretation. One field trip to a local establishment will be involved. During this field trip each student must depend on his/her signing and fingerspelling skills. January 22
A course in computer graphics brochures and flyers will be offered at the SCC Cashiers Center from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 22 - Feb. 19. Students will learn basic design elements including use of fonts, color, graphics, layout and a variety of graphic softwares. Cost of the course is $55. A course is greeting cards and business cards will be offered at the SCC Cashiers Center from 2-5 p.m. on Wednesdays. Jan. 22 - Feb. 5. This course will teach the basics of designing and printing greeting cards and business cards using simple graphics programs. Students will make birthday, anniversary, Valentine's and Christmas cards, using art or photography. Cost of the course is $50. Register by calling the Cashiers Center at 743-6688.

A poetry and journaling course will be offered at the SCC Cashiers Center from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesdays, Jan. 22 - Feb. 26. Examine the basic structure of poems and the basics of keeping a journal. Students will study the sonnets, poems and poets, keep a journal of their thoughts and write at least one poem a week. Cost of the course is $20. Register by calling the Cashiers Center at 743-6688.

January 27
A course in Microsoft Office Pro 2000 will be offered from 6-9 p.m. at the SCC Cashiers Center on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 27 - Mar. 4. This course is designed for the student with experience in Windows and the Internet and who possess good typing and mousing skills. Cost of the course is $60. A beginning cake decorating course will be offered from 6-9 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 27 - Feb. 24. Students will learn to create beautiful borders, roses, clowns and pattern transfers! There is an $80 materials fee and $50 registration fee. Call the Cashiers Center at 743-6688 to register.

January 30
A Photography For Business course will be offered from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 30 - Feb. 18. This course will examine the limits of digital vs. film photography give students the knowledge to make better pictures. Basic camera handling, lens selection, F stops and shutter speeds, electronic transmission of images and interior lighting are just a few of the topics that will be discussed. Students will need to supply their own camera. A Saturday field trip is planned. Cost of the course is $95. Call the SCC Cashiers Center to register at 743-6688.

On-Going Courses
Basic Skills/GED Prep/Adult High School (AHS) classes meet from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the SCC Cashiers Center.

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes meet from 6-9 p.m. on Mondays at the SCC Cashiers Center.
