Paul
Holt Reappointed to SCC Board of Trustees
SYLVA
-The Jackson County Board of Education recently reappointed Paul
Holt to serve a four year term on the Southwestern Community College
Board of Trustees.
Holt,
a Sylva-based attorney, is a founding member of SCC's Board of
Trustees and has served as a Trustee for the past 36 years. In
addition to his service on the Board of Trustees, Holt has also
served on SCC's Foundation Board for the past 30 years.
"I
was pleased to learn that Paul was reappointed to the Board,"
said Conrad Burrell, chairman of the SCC Board of Trustees. "His
demonstrated effort to provide affordable, quality education to
the people of Jackson, Macon and Swain counties and the Qualla
Boundary complements the efforts of Southwestern Community College."
Cecil
Groves, president of SCC reiterated Burrell's sentiment. "Paul
has a strong dedication to the people of this area and to the
College, and we are very pleased that he will be serving another
term."
Southwestern
Community College is governed by a local Board of Trustees within
the framework of the Community Colleges Act, Chapter 115D of the
General Statutes of North Carolina. The Board consists of 14 trustees
- five appointed by the county commissioners, four appointed by
the Board of Education, four appointed by the Governor of North
Carolina and the Student Government Association president as an
ex-officio member.
