January 23
E-Bay--Buying and Selling on the Internet: Prerequisite: basic computer skills, Internet access and e-mail account. Become part of the global market of E-Bay, an on-line auction for pros and amateurs alike. The class will meet from 2-5 p.m. on Fridays, Jan. 23 - Feb. 6 at SCC's Cashiers Center. January 26
Conversational Italian:
The objective of the course is to provide beginners with a thorough grounding in Italian language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Special emphasis will be placed on travel in Italy for the tourist, including recognition of signs, Italian menus, travel emergencies, culture and manners, etc. Suggestions for further study, including study of beginning through advanced Italian in Italy, will be offered. The class will meet from 6-8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 26 - Mar. 15 at SCC's Cashiers Center. Registration is $70. Call 743-6688 to register.

Windows Disk & File Management: (Prerequisite: basic computer skills and 20 wpm). Discover how to retrieve missing files and delete, copy and move files. Learn how to add and remove items from your start button, work with the Startup group, and create/delete desktop icons and other shortcuts to your favorite programs and documents. The class will meet at 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 26 - Feb. 18 at SCC's Cashiers Center. Registration is $55. Call 743-6688 to register.

Pagemaker 6.5: Learn Pagemaker 6.5 desktop publishing software useful in producing brochures, newsletters and more. The course will be offered from 2-5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 26 - Mar. 3 at the SCC's Cashiers Center. Cost of the course is $60. Call 743-6688 to register.

Intro to Scrapbooking:
This class will introduce you to scrapbooking, a great way to preserve your photographs and memorabilia. The class includes information about organizing photographs, using safe products in your album, how to crop your photographs, using paper and stickers to enhance your page and journaling. The materials fee will include a 12x12 album with page protectors, journaling pen, adhesive and paper. Approximate cost of materials is $50. Students need to bring own photos. The class will meet from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at SCC's Cashiers Center. Cost of the course is $12.50. Call 743-6688 to register.

February 3
Wall Finishes:
Are your walls in need of art but you want to avoid the price of contracting an artist? Learn some techniques to enable you to do it yourself. Many finishes will be explored, some easy and some more complex. Sponging, rag rolling, marbling, stenciling and gold leafing will be demonstrated. Materials will be provided. The class will meet from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 3 and 10. Cost of the course is $65. Call 743-6688 to register.

Decorative Furniture: Using new unpainted boxes, thrift store finds, and small pieces of furniture you have around the house, we will apply many fun decorative techniques, simple to simply extraordinary! This class may be repeated as many times as you have objects to paint, each time developing new skills and all under teacher supervision to get through the "rough" spots. Materials list will be supplied. The class will meet from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 3 and 10. Cost of the course is $65. Call 743-6688 to register.

February 4
Improving The Photogenic Eye:
Aesthetics and the photographic eye are the basis of all good photographs. This class is designed to improve your artistic sensitivities by seeing light and refining the recording of it with our cameras. Topics discussed range from film types, F-stops and shutter speeds to the digital darkroom and from classical portraiture to landscapes and still life. Who should attend? Beginners to advanced photographers that want to make better pictures. Bring your camera. The class will meet from 1-4 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 4-25, plus one Saturday. Cost of the course is $85. February 5
The "New" Oils:
Try the new water clean-up oil paints and forget solvent mess and odor. Apply whatever style you wish, realism to abstract and test what these great paints can do. This class is for anyone who wants to try the medium, Regardless of skill level. Sign up for evening class for a full day of painting. Materials info will be given at registration. The class will meet from 6-9 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 5 and 12. Cost of the course is $65. Call 743-6688 to register.

Painting with Acrylics: Water-based paints, like acrylics, are fun and easy to use. Tube colors or little bottles of acrylic offer instant success. Many techniques and secrets will be shared. Beginners and more experienced painters are welcome. You will be free to choose the style and subject matter you like best. The class will meet from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 5 and 12. February 10
Envelopes, Labels & Mail Merges:
Learn to type an envelope or label in "three clicks" and to merge an address file with a letter or newsletter file in "eight clicks." As a result of taking this short course, you will learn how to organize address files, merge these files with other documents, "type" file labels and "automatically" print envelopes. Word Macros:
A macro is an automated way to do repetitive tasks in Microsoft Word. They are essentially small programs that perform the commands for your common jobs. These might include making mailing labels, putting in standard letter formats, inserting tables and routine formatting. There will be plenty of hands-on work in this class. The course assumes a working knowledge of Word. The class will meet from 2-5 p.m. on Fridays, Feb. 2 - Mar. 12 at the SCC Cashiers Center. Cost of the course is $55. Call 743-6688 to register.

Scenic Photography for Enthusiasts:
This course will cover technique, lighting, composition, exposure control, equipment, bug-a-boos and personal clothing. There will be four classroom sessions with demonstration and discussion and two supervised field trips in our magnificent countryside. Please bring your own 35mm camera ready to take pictures.
