SCC and Franklin Area Chamber to Offer Public Speaking Seminar

FRANKLIN - The Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Southwestern Community College, is sponsoring "Stand and Deliver," a seminar designed to help people improve their presentation and public speaking skills from 8-11 a.m. on Friday, April 2 at Angel Medical Center.

Participants will discuss how to gain credibility with an audience, prepare for presentation and effectively communicate content. The seminar will cover the components of a speech, good posture, positive gestures and image, overcoming fear and proper use of humor.

"This seminar has great information for anyone who speaks to the public, whether one-on-one or in large groups--from sales people to politicians, everyone will enjoy and benefit from this exciting course," said Russ Seagle, Small Business Center Director at Southwestern Community College.

Popular speaker Denise Ryan will be the seminar presenter. Ryan, owner of Firestar Speaking, has spoken in the region several times and is known for her energetic and informative workshops.

"Denise is a great model of an effective public speaker, and I'm sure our participants will learn as much from what she does as they do from what she says," said Seagle.

Participants will be served breakfast at 7:30 a.m. The cost for the seminar is $15 for Franklin Area Chamber members and $25 for non-members. To register call the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce at (828) 524-3161 to reserve a seat.
