SCC to offer Voice Lessons

HIGHLANDS - Martin Rice, former director of vocal-choral music at Pfeiffer University, will lead two ten-week voice lesson course for Southwestern Community College.

Rice will focus on the development of an outstanding singing and speaking voice, including instruction on intercostals-diaphragmatic breath support, vibrato, resonance, range and diction.

After teaching his first round of courses last December, Rice said, "There is an abundance of talent in the area including those who plan to sing in church choirs, in music theater and as soloists."

Those interested in improving their voice for solo, choral or ensemble singing, as well as those interested in public speaking and theater will benefit from the techniques taught in this course.

Voice Lessons I will meet from 2:30-3:15 p.m. on Thursdays, Apr. 8 - June 10 at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Highlands. There is a $25 registration fee. For additional information or to register, call SCC's Cashiers Center at 743-6688.
