Entrepreneurs
Can Avoid Business Killers
Mistakes can be great learning tools; but for a businessperson,
they can mean disaster. An upcoming seminar offered
by Southwestern Community College is designed to steer
entrepreneurs away from such a calamity.
"Business Killers: Avoiding the Six Mistakes that
Can Destroy Your Business and Your Future" is being
offered for people of the Jackson, Macon and Swain counties
area at two sites. The first will be held at the Highlands-Cashiers
Hospital on Friday, Feb. 11, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The
seminar will be repeated at the SCC Cashiers Center
on Thursday, March 3 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Robert Carlson,
a designated Registered Financial Consultant (RFC) with
over 25 years of experience working with small business
owners, will lead the seminar. He is owner of the Carlson
Company, LLC in Sapphire Valley.
"The seminar is designed for business owners who
have a one-person operation or employ several people,"
Carlson said. "It's packed with need-to-know information
and advice on how to avoid six major pitfalls. Our purpose
is to help people bring the risk of owning a business
to a manageable level."
According to Keith Corbeil, SCC Business and Industry
Training Coordinator, "Business Killers" is
self-supporting and costs $50. "It may be the best
$50 participants will spend this year," he said.
"Bob Carlson has conducted over 100 seminars on
issues pertinent to small business owners and we are
excited to offer his expertise to the people of our
service area."
To pre-register, contact the SCC Cashiers Center at
743.6688 or the SCC Macon County Center at 369.7331.
Participants can pay fees and complete registration
forms at the time of the seminar.
