Whodunit? will be the question Friday, April 1, when Southwestern Community College Foundation presents Cast Offed, an interactive murder mystery, as part of its eighth annual dinner theatre fund raiser.

SCC Foundation present "Cast Offed" an interactive murder mystery as part of its eighth annual dinner theatre fund raiser on Friday, April 1, 2005The plot thickens in Cast Offfed as the "stars" come out in full force to audition for Blake Cameronberg's hip, hot, new feature film, "A Streetcar Named Deliverance." Some of them are just dying to be cast and others are ready to kill for a role. While the action is taking place, audience members will try to "detect" who killed whom - and why.

While enjoying the play staged in the lobby of the Balsam Center, the audience will also enjoy a dinner featuring roast beef, shrimp skewers and chicken cordon bleu entrees.

But wait; there's a bonus. Cast Offed could be four audience members' chance to shine - and have additional fun. Six members of the acting troupe from Charlotte will fill the major roles in the play, but audience participation for four additional roles will be needed.

These four will join the stellar cast of:
Laura Aguirre
Aguirre has worked as a broadcast journalist, corporate talent and actor. She's been heavily involved in Charlotte theatre and films/commercials throughout the southeastern U.S. for over three years.
Whitney Axley
Axley is a former marine-mammal trainer who has been acting for three years. She has appeared in a number of commercials, stage shows and films.
Michael Ruff
Ruff is a veteran stage actor with some twenty years in the film and television industry as well. He can be seen in the upcoming feature film: The Feeding.
David Gourley
Gourley, a former submariner with the US Navy, is perfecting his craft as a stand-up comic and straight man. He has appeared in several regional commercials at a dinner theatres and comedy clubs.
Vena Riddick
Riddick's credits range from professional children's theatre to her role in the made for television film, Whistle Grove, to writing to stand up comedy. A professionally trained actress, she will premiere her second one-woman show this spring.
John Lawson
Lawson is a veteran actor, standup comic and improv player. He can be seen as "Laughing Man" in the IBM I series commercials and is the writer/director for upcoming feature films, "A Streetcar Named Deliverance" and "5 Things I Sense". He also will be starring in the new film, "Sam's Kitchen".

While the audience will benefit from an evening of fun, SCC students will benefit from the funds generated by the ticket sales; all monies will go to the Foundation's scholarship program.

Tickets for the 6 p.m. dinner theater are $40. To reserve your seat, phone Sonja Haynes at 586.4091, extension 218. Only 120 tickets will be sold.
