Day and Citizenship Day - Sept 16, 2005 -
Every school and college that receives federal
money must teach about the Constitution on
September 17, the day the document was adopted
in 1787. >>here's
what else SCC has planned for Sept 16 |
|
Wesolick’s
presentation is open to the public and will also cover
the Constitutional Convention and its key participants.
“Duane is a unique and dynamic presenter who uses
music, sounds and images to bring the story alive,”
said Gene Couch, SCC’s vice president for instruction
and student services. “It’s like being a
part of the History Channel.”
SCC joins other colleges and schools across America
having a Constitution Day program commemorating the
Sept. 17, 1787 signing of the U.S. Constitution.
It’s up to our schools to help ensure that each
new generation of Americans understands what is at stake,
said Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., who proposed the Constitution
and Citizenship Day provision in the omnibus spending
bill passed by Congress last December.
