Health Fair at SCC on November 1

A Health Fair for the public will be held at Southwestern Community College Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sponsored by the second year evening Registered Nursing students, the event will be held in Balsam Center with a number of area health and safety organizations participating. These will include:

•

Jackson County Health Department. Staff members will conduct cholesterol and blood sugar checks for $7. They will also have a child safety booth.

•

Jackson County Sheriff's Department. They will conduct substance abuse related activities and demonstrations.

•

Pathways for the Future. Staff members will provide information on issues and services available to persons with disabilities, including in-home aid services.

•

SCC Licensed Practical Nursing students will conduct free blood pressure checks.

•

SCC Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Therapy, and Massage Therapy students will conduct demonstrations throughout the day.

A variety of door prizes will be given away during the day including gift certificates from a number of Sylva merchants, a gas gift certificate, restaurant gift certificates and more.

Health Fair - Nov 3 at Ginger Lynn Welch Complex in Cherokee A Health Fair for the public will be also be held in Cherokee Thursday, Nov. 3 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Ginger Lynn Welch Complex.
