HOSA
competition held Dec 1 at SCC
During
the Health Occupation Students of America Regional Competition
Thursday, Dec. 1, at Southwestern Community College,

Sutton, the regional HOSA president, is also the state
HOSA historian and Stephens serves as the regional HOSA
treasurer. Representing the 11 counties of Buncombe,
Clay, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Madison, Mitchell,
Polk, Rutherford, Swain, and Transylvania, 175 students
competed in activities including career health displays,
creative problem solving, job-seeking skills, extemporaneous,
prepared and researched persuasive speaking and HOSA
bowl. Students were also tested in the fields of CPR,
sports, medicine, medical math and medical terminology.
Regional winners advance to the state finals in spring.
