PTK Induction Cememony held Nov 29

Thirteen Southwestern Community College students
were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International
Honor Society on Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Myers Auditorium.
Kirk Stephens, chapter co-advisor, inducted the
officers into the local Alpha Eta Nu Chapter.
From left are Christopher Haney, advertising and
graphic design; Sharon Bryson, health information
technology; Elana Woodard, AA-college transfer;
Patricia Brooks, office systems technology; Joanna
Tahquette, paralegal technology; Carolyn Timmons,
paralegal technology; Michele Flowers, human services
technology; Judith Pearson, cosmetology; Valerie
Ball, human services technology; Kathy Masson,
cosmetology; and Stephanie Bryson, pre-major elementary,
middle grade education. Not pictured: Jason Miller,
cyber crime, and Benjamin Rickert, AA- college
transfer. To be eligible for membership a student
must be enrolled in a two-year degree-seeking
curriculum, be a full-time student, achieve a
grade point average of at least 3.5 and be nominated
by a faculty member or advisor for displaying
good citizenship and leadership abilities. The
purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is the recognition
and encouragement of scholarship among community
college students.
