World

The
Learning Assistance Center is pleased to announce a
new workshop: "Preparing for Your Future
in
the Professional World." Deborah Thomas, one of
SCC's adjunct instructors and an LAC Learning Consultant,
developed the workshop in response to wishes expressed
by students in classes and in the LAC. The session focuses
on appropriate appearance, good hygiene, appropriate
language, good work habits, reliability, compliance
(with rules and policies), respect, courtesy, tolerance,
ethics, loyalty, and self-motivation.
Deb
is presenting the workshop for the first time from 10
until 10:50 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, in Oaks Hall
Room 100-C for Toni Knott's developmental reading class.
There are twenty students enrolled in the class, but
there is room for a few more students or faculty members.
Just email Toni if you and/or any of your students plan
to attend.
If
you are interested in sponsoring this workshop in your
own classroom, then please call (ext. 325) or email
Toni. Deb is teaching most days at the Macon Center,
but she is on the Sylva campus on Thursdays. She also
is willing to drive over to present the workshop, if
her schedule permits.
Thank
you for continuing to support the LAC and its services.
