Madden
named to SCC Board
Edwin
"Eddie" Madden Jr. was recently appointed
and sworn in to the Southwestern Community College Board
of Trustees. Madden was named to the board by the Jackson
County Commissioners to complete the term of his father,
Ed Madden Sr. who resigned from the Board in March.

A
former Town Planner for Highlands, Madden represents
District IV on the Jackson County Commission. He is
also a real estate broker with Madden Realty and Builders
Inc. where he holds an executive position.
Madden earned a masters degree in public administration
and a B.S. in political science at Western Carolina
University where he graduated with honors and was named
to Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society.
A lifelong resident of the Cashiers/Highlands area,
he serves as a deacon with First Baptist Church of Highlands
and is a Rotarian. He is married to Dawn Madden and
they have three children, Jacqueline, Elliott and Abigail.
"I am delighted with the appointment of Eddie Madden
to the SCC Board of Trustees," said Dr. Cecil Groves,
president of Southwestern Community College. "I
look forward to working with him in ensuring that Southwestern
continues to offer an affordable, quality education
to the citizens of our service area."
Conrad Burrell, Chairman of the Southwestern Board of
Trustees, also stated he is pleased with Mr. Madden's
appointment and is confident he will prove to be an
asset to the Board.
