Dr.
Quayle Neslen Reappointed to SCC Board of Trustees
Dr. Quayle Neslen has been reappointed
by the Jackson County Board of Education to serve
a four year term on the Southwestern Community
College Board of Trustees.
First appointed in 1994, Dr. Neslen has served
three consecutive terms on the SCC Board.
An orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Neslen is a
graduate of George Washington University
School of Medicine. He completed his residency
at Emory University School of Medicine
and has practiced in Sylva since 1979.
He resides in Sylva.
"I am very pleased with the reappointment
of Dr. Neslen," said Dr. Cecil Groves, president
of Southwestern Community College. "I appreciate
his leadership qualities and commitment to the
College. As an active, long-term member of the
Board, he has been a vital asset."
Conrad Burrell, chairman of the SCC Board of Trustees,
also stated he is pleased with Dr. Neslen's reappointment
and noted his support and commitment to the college
and the Board of Trustees during his years of
service.
SCC is governed by a local board of trustees within
the framework of the Community Colleges Act, Chapter
115D of the General Statutes of North Carolina.
The Board consists of 14 trustees - five appointed
by the county commissioners, four appointed by
the Board of Education, four appointed by the
governor of North Carolina and the Student Leadership
Association president as an ex-officio member.
