Josh Gillett

Sylva native Josh Gillett has received the James Therlo Herron scholarship at Southwestern Community College.

To be eligible for consideration for the scholarship, a student must have a 3.0 or higher grade point average and be enrolled as a full- or part-time student in the surveying technology program.

The scholarship was established to honor the late Mr. Herron who founded Herron and Associates, an engineering, surveying and land planning company in Swain County.

While tuition is very affordable at SCC, a wide range of scholarships are available and most students are eligible for some type of financial assistance.
