Workers unloaded
boxes of new furniture and
began setting up tables,
desks and chairs in Southwestern
Community College’s
new Macon Campus last week.
Set up continues this week
at the two-story structure
conveniently located next
to the new county library
on Siler Road.
“We’re planning
our open house now,”
said Connie Haire, vice president
of the Macon Campus, as she
helped workers arrange the
new furniture. “We haven’t
set the date yet but we expect
to next week.”
The 27,600-square-foot campus
will definitely be ready for
students to register for fall
semester on Aug. 16, said
Haire, noting classes start
the very next day.
Haire said she thinks students
will be very impressed not
only with the sheer beauty
of the facility, but with
the amenities as well.
The building is equipped
for wireless Internet and
houses a Cyber Café
with sofas near the two-story
stone fireplace.
