Miss Cherokee Kara Martin honors U.S. Army
veteran Joe Castorena during the Veteran’s
Day Observance Monday, Nov. 12, at Southwestern
Community College. During the ceremony,
Martin, a Southwestern student, introduced
the Cherokee Elementary Traditional Singers,
who gave the Pledge of Allegiance and sang
America the Beautiful in Cherokee. Castorena,
along with other members of Cherokee’s
Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post 143,
presented and retired the colors.
