This new heating and cooling
equipment will be used to
train future HVAC technicians
in the latest techniques
from servicing variable
speed, two-stage cooling
equipment and using the
new environmentally friendly
R410A refrigerant.
“Andrews Auld Heating
& Cooling and Lennox
International are committed
to providing Southwestern
with the most modern and
advanced equipment possible,”
said Thom Brooks, SCC dean
of career technologies.
“With training on
the most advanced, highest
efficiency equipment on
the market, each graduating
service technician will
be better equipped to provide
the best service possible.”
The HVAC field is changing
rapidly and it will require
technicians be trained in
higher education, according
to Brooks. “SCC's
Air Conditioning, Heating,
and Refrigeration Technology
program provides the basic
knowledge and skills necessary
to work with residential
and light commercial systems.
Topics in the program include
mechanical refrigeration,
heating and cooling theory,
electricity, controls, air
conditioning, furnaces,
heat pumps, tools and instruments,
and safety practices,”
Brooks said.
"At Southwestern we
have well-equipped lab facilities,
and that is thanks in large
part to companies like Andrews
Auld and Lennox who remain
committed to investing in
workforce development,"
he said. Lennox is the leader
in HVAC innovation and development
and the recipient of the
JD Power Award.
Space is still available
for students interested
in enrolling in the Air
Conditioning, Heating, and
Refrigeration Technology
program in the fall.
