Southwestern Community College student John Martin of Hayesville, second from
left, won a new laptop computer
donated by Drake Enterprises
of Franklin. Martin’s
name was drawn from a pool
of students attending SCC’s
career-building seminars.
Alan Keling, left, Drake’s
vice-president of customer
service, presented Martin
the laptop May 5 at Drake
headquarters. Martin thanked
Drake not only for the computer,
but for their continued
support of higher education
in the region and said,
“This laptop will
assist me to continue and
complete my education at
Southwestern and subsequently
my legal education, which
will ultimately afford me
the privilege of helping
others.” Attending
the presentation and participating
in the project were SCC
foundation director Sonja
Haynes and SCC career planning
and placement coordinator
Patty Kirkley.
