SCC offers
Basic Rider Courses

With the increasing cost of fuel, many people are looking at different means for transportation. Motorcycles offer a cost effective means to lower fuel consumption while saving money. Motorcyclists can also enjoy the beauty of Western North Carolina, which has some of the best roads for riding. But there is another important aspect that one must consider before jumping on two wheels and taking off down the road-safety! Motorcycles are fuel efficient, but an unsafe rider can place themselves at risk without proper training. Like riding a bicycle one must learn how to ride safely to really enjoy the ride. Southwestern Community College offers Basic Rider Courses, which covers the basic fundamentals needed to develop your capabilities to become a safe and responsible motorcyclist. SCC has experienced instructors who will work with you to help you accomplish your goals. Whether you are considering purchasing a motorcycle or you’ve been riding for years, the Basic Rider Course will help you be safer and allow you to enjoy your motorcycle experience.
