Scott
Ralls, right, incoming president
of the N.C. Community College
System, met with Southwestern
Community College president
Cecil Groves, left, Friday,
March 28, on a visit to the
number four community college
in the nation. Currently president
of Craven Community College
in New Bern, Ralls will assume
his new duties May 1 when
Martin Lancaster, president
since 1997, retires. "I
grew up in the Waynesville,
Asheville area so the mountains
are home to me," Ralls
told Southwestern faculty
and staff during a reception
in his honor. He said the
greatest strength of the state's
community colleges is "when
all 58 of us bond together
in our open door policy of
serving our communities."
Before going to Craven Community
College, Ralls served as vice
president for economic and
workforce development with
the system office. |
