Two brothers, both Southwestern
Community College culinary
technology students, won
first place in the Professional
Category of the Downtown Sylva
Association’s 2nd Annual
Chilly Fest Saturday, Oct.
10. Brandon Cope, left, current
student and sous chef at the

and feistiness of the venison
first, then finish off the
taste with the sweetness of
mango and crème fraiche,”
Dusty said of their winning
recipe.

on the planning committee
for the Chilly Fest and
said more than “350
people, including 14 cooks,
braved the wet weather to
take part in the chili cook-off.”
