Professional Office Management certificate
offered |
Southwestern Community College
will offer a certificate program
in Professional Office Management
in Franklin beginning Monday,
Nov. 2.
It will be held in the continuing
education center at SCC’s
Macon Annex, located behind
the Macon County courthouse.
Designed to provide new career
opportunities for people looking
to better their job prospects,
the program meets on Monday,
Wednesday and Fridays from
9 a.m. to noon.
The program is designed to
provide participants with
both the personal and professional
skills to manage an office.
On a personal level, the class
will focus on attitude, mastering
organizational skills, problem
solving, being a winning team
member and learning how to
step forward as a leader.
In addition to personal skill
building, in this first module
of the program, students will
learn how to maintain records
efficiently, the basics of
modern office equipment, and
how to maintain supplies,
facilities and maintenance
records.
Modules II through IV of the
program focus on computer
skills starting with a basic
course in Applications for
Business Computer. The ABCs
will provide computer foundation
skills in electronic file
management, introductions
to basic application software,
internet and graphics.
A word processing course will
teach students many basic
and intermediate functions
in word processing –
an application that is critical
to the success of many offices.
Students will also learn spreadsheet
programs and QuickBooks.
The final two segments of
the program include Notary
Public Education and Employability
Skills. Many offices find
it very useful to have a notary
public on staff and students
will have an opportunity to
add this to their resume.
The final course in Employability
Skills will be tailored to
the individual students needs
in assisting them to successfully
find employment as a professional
office manager.
For qualifying individuals,
registration fees, material
