Dean of Macon Campus attends leadership program

Dr. Cheryl Davids, dean of Southwestern Community College’s Macon Campus, has been selected to participate in the N.C. Community College Leadership Program throughout this academic year.

The seven-month leadership program is designed to develop the state’s future community college leaders. Participants work in teams to create an ideal community college.
Topics include leadership styles, team player styles, emotional intelligence, problem solving – conflict resolution and more.

“Thus far, the program has been engaging, challenging and rewarding,” Dr. Davids said. “I look forward to learning more about the N.C. Community College System, networking with representatives from 35 different colleges within our system and applying best practices to deal with current community college issues.NCCCLP is a wonderful experience in professional development.”

Prior to joining SCC in January of 2012, Dr. Davids spent 22 years in a variety of administrative roles at Central Carolina Technical College in her hometown of Sumter, S.C.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in education - history from the University of South Carolina, a master’s in education – secondary mathematics from Francis Marion University and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Clemson University.
