McGuires give to Student Success Campaign

Dr. Patrick (center) and Jeanne McGuire (second from right) recently made a generous donation to the Student Success Campaign at Southwestern Community College. The McGuires are pictured here beside, from left: Charles Wolfe, chairman of the Student Success Campaign; Mary Otto Selzer, director of the SCC Foundation; and Dr. Don Tomas, president of SCC. The most ambitious fundraising effort of its kind in SCC history, the Student Success Campaign aims to raise more than $1 million through the community’s generosity and by leveraging the power of a federal challenge grant that matches every dollar (up to $300,000) given to the campaign by Sept. 1, 2014. In the recently completed academic year, the SCC Foundation was only able to award scholarships to 43 of 225 deserving applicants. The Student Success Campaign will help bridge that gap between availability and need. For more information or to contribute, contact Kathy Posey at 828.339.4227 or k_posey@southwesterncc.edu.
