Southwestern Community College held a ceremony on Dec. 4 to induct 28 top-performing students into the National Technical Honor Society. The event was held on SCC’s Jackson Campus in Sylva.

All inductees hold at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average, were nominated by a teaching faculty member and rank among the top 20 percent of active students in their respective programs.

“We are extremely proud of all these students,” said Dr. Thom Brooks, Executive Vice President for Instruction and Student Services. “Our programs are designed to challenge students, so these individuals have all worked extremely hard to get good grades and earn the respect of their instructors. Every one of these students has a bright future ahead.”

NTHS recognizes outstanding student achievement in career and technical education. It encourages higher scholastic achievement, cultivates a desire for personal excellence and helps students find success in the workplace.
