The latest generation of front-line healthcare workers was honored May 3 during a pinning ceremony for graduates of Southwestern Community College’s nurse aide program at the Jackson Campus.
Thirty of the honorees completed SCC’s nurse aide certificate while 11 received their nurse aide therapeutic & diagnostic diploma.
Nurse Aide is a two-semester program that includes both classroom and clinical education. The curriculum prepares students to work under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals.
Therapeutic & diagnostic diploma recipients complete a full year of study in which they gain at least 46 semester hour credits.
"I am honored to be a part of each of these students’ journeys in achieving their certificate and/or diploma,” said Tneshia Richards, nurse aide program coordinator. “Some of these students will begin working immediately in the community while others pursue higher education. I am pleased that Southwestern Community College's nurse aide program could be a part of these students achieving this accomplishment."
Graduates may be eligible for listing as a Nurse Aide I and other selected Nurse Aide registries.
